Scrapbooks 1875-1885.

Four of the five scrapbooks contain clippings about railroads in the United States. The clippings are from California papers (including the San Francisco Chronicle, the Stockton Independent, the Oakland Evening Tribune, and the Los Angeles Journal), as well as papers in other states. The articles address many subjects pertaining to railroads, such as labor relations, questions of land ownership, legislation, and taxation. The Southern Pacific Railroad and the Central Pacific Railroad Company are mentioned often. The fifth scrapbook, labelled "Fiction" contains short stories, most of which are undated and do not list an author.
